Faulkner's Return To The Parish[]
As Mason gives a sermon to the Parish at the Gulch, Faulkner enters and promptly collapses from exhaustion. Mason confronts Faulkner about his description of the Wither Mark, before giving Faulkner his own chambers.
A few months later, Mason introduces Faulkner to the Man-O-War and tells him that he is being sent out with a team of acolytes on a pilgrimage to unite the false-faiths under the Trawler-man. He promises Faulkner the rank of Katabasian when he returns.[1]
The Siege of the Paraclete's Gulch[]
The Paraclete's Gulch is attacked by Mercer and Gage on the order of Adjudicator Shrue, the legislature of the region. Their aim is to wipe out the Parish of Tide and Flesh and bring into being their god The Beast That Stalks In The Long Grass. The Parish, led by Faulkner in Mason's absence, manage to evacuate the Gulch with help from Carpenter.[2] Adjudicator Shrue calls off the attack[3] after they are approached by Mason.
Katabasian Mason's Murder[]
Following the Siege, Mason and Thurrocks reveal the plot the legalised the Parish of Tide and Flesh. In a fury, Faulkner kills them both. He blames Carpenter for the murders after she walks into his private chambers and sees what he has done. [3]
The Assassination Attempt On Faulkner[]
High Katabasian Roemont tries to assassinate Faulkner in a very similar way to how Faulkner killed Mason. Roemont invites Faulkner to his chambers to carry out the expurgation rites ahead of the ceremony that will announce Faulkner as a Katabasian of the faith. Grenshaw hides behind a curtain in Roemont's room with a pistol to shoot Faulkner with. Faulkner is informed of the plot by Katabasian Greve and turns the assassination plot on Roemont, successfully dictating his death from a distance.[4]
Abandonment[]
Whilst Faulkner and Sibling Rane attempt to get a message out to the Parish, the Gulch is attacked by the Legislatures' forces and it's inhabitants are driven away. In Mason's study, Faulkner finds a radio playing a recorder message from Greve detailing Faulkner's crimes. Faulkner turns off the radio, before leaving the Gulch with Rane for the final time.[5]
